Why Should Kids Get Chiropractic Care?
Being born is very traumatic and can result in subluxations that cause many common childhood conditions, such as torticollis, latching difficulties and colic. Chiropractic helps correct these neurological interferences by checking reflexes and alignment, and providing safe, gentle, targeted adjustments to correct subluxations.

How Does Pediatric Chiropractic Care Help with Latching?
One of the most common questions we get is, “How can adjustments help with nursing issues?” We love these kinds of questions, because we want parents to understand the connection. Often with latching, the baby is unable to open their mouth wide enough. This can be caused by limited mobility in the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) or the first vertebra in the neck. Both of these joints need to move properly in order for your baby to have the ability to latch. Chiropractic adjustments can restore proper movement to these joints so your baby can nurse well.
Safe, Gentle Adjustments for Kids of All Ages
Chiropractic adjustments for kids are different from those we offer adults. For babies, we use gentle pressure, about the same as what you’d use to check a peach for ripeness. And there’s no quick force applied. Rather, we use a safe touch and hold technique that many babies sleep right through.
For older kids, we’ll explain the process and demonstrate on our “Adjust-a-Bear” toy, and let the kids adjust the bear as well. Many children enjoy the popping sound that an adjustment makes, so we say “Let’s make some popcorn!” Some adjustments can even be done while the child sits on mom’s lap. We take our time to build rapport with kids and let them set the tone. And if they are too nervous, that’s okay. We’ll try again another day—we never force a child to get adjusted.
